Fast charging specifications are used by smart devices to reduce charging time. However, different devices may have different number of USB ports and each port may support different fast charging specifications. Genesys Logic is the first in the industry to announce a seven-in-one fast charging identification chip that allows users to reduce charging time without worrying about mismatch of fast charging specs, achieving a true hassle free user experience. Seven-in-one refers to the ability to automatically identify seven fast charging specifications including Qualcomm® Quick Charge 3.0™ (also backward compatible with Quick Charge 2.0™), MediaTek® Pump Express Plus 2.0™ (also backward compatible with Pump Express Plus), Huawei®/Hisilicon® FCP, Spreadtrum® Fast Charge Protocol, USB Battery Charging specifications, Apple® fast charging identification and Samsung® fast charging identification. These seven fast charging specifications are popularly used on Samsung, Apple, Huawei, ZTE, LG, Sony, Sharp, HTC, Asus, Motorola, Xiaomi, MEIZU and LeTV LePhone phones and tablets, reaching almost 100% market coverage. Phones and tablets equipped with these types of fast charging specifications have an average of 2x~4x quick charge performances, saving charging time significantly.
For the newly introduced USB Type-C™ port, the uni-directional GL883C-10 seven-in-one fast charging identification chip that supports USB Type-C™ connectors can be used to identify seven different fast charging specifications automatically. It also supports the USB Type-C™ DFP (Downstream Facing Port) specification, making it suitable to apply on wall chargers, car chargers and USB extension cable products. In addition to that, the bi-directional GL883CR-10 seven-in-one fast charging identification chip supports USB Type-C™ DRP (Dual-Role Port) specification. It is suitable to apply on the quick charge/discharge USB Type-C™ port of power banks.
For products with USB Type-A connectors, GL883A-10/GL883A-20 can be used to supports one/two charging port(s) respectively. Each port supports the same seven-in-one fast charging protocols. These identification chips can be applied on wall chargers, car chargers, USB extension cable, and power bank applications.
