Genesys Logic, the leading manufacturer of high speed I/O communication in Taiwan, announces the official mass production of their USB 2.0 to SATA/PATA Bridge Controller (product code: GL830).
GL830 supports general external USB devices, and it is mainly applied in product such as external HD cases, internal HD, and SATA-based optical drives. GL830 is an extension of Genesys Logic's past technologies and experience of USB-to-ATA/ATAPI products, and it provides flexibility in product design that allows system providers to deliver the IC needed by their clients. The most cost-competitive LQFP 48 pin package includes two units of power regulators, 5V to 3.3V and 3.3V to 1.8, removing the clients’ need of LDO and thus reduces the cost of BOM (Bill of Material) to a minimum level. The 64 pin package is targeted at the market of middle and advanced levels of applications and includes SATA, eSATA, and hot plug capabilities. The 128 pin package is targeted at the advanced level which includes more complete functions such as ATA/ATAPI, SATA, Programmable AP, and hot plug.
Genesys Logic utilizes advanced analog/digital signal technologies to provide solutions for USB, PCI Express, and SATA interfaces, and is one of the few companies in the world that have independent USB and SATA related IC design. This kind of independence allows more control over project length and product stability when developing products that save energy and have less number of IC pins.
